Re: Slow Broadband Speeds

Hi @dcdsmith89,

Thank you for getting in touch. I've checked and your current speed is slightly above the estimates for your current property. The estimated speed at the property is 2-4mbps.

Re: Slow Broadband Speeds

Hello,

At my previous address in the same area I had speeds up to 15mbps why is there such a big difference?

Re: Slow Broadband Speeds

The speed of ADSL broadband is related to the length of cable between your property and your local telephone exchange, which could be taking a totally different route to that at your previous address. If you're really unlucky it could also use aluminium cored cable.. You can get a very good speed on fibre. Why nor take the hit and upgrade?

Re: Slow Broadband Speeds

Hi @dcdsmith89,

It's difficult to determine exactly why the speed estimate is lower than it was at your previous property but it's likely to be down to factors such as the distance between the cabinet and the exchange, the cabinet and your property and the material that the line is made from.

As @Baldrick1 has mentioned, it might be worth looking into fibre broadband if you require a faster speed. You'd be able to get speeds of up to 40mbps or up to 80mbps, depending on which package you went from. Our customer options team are the best people to discuss this with as they have access to our offers for existing customers. Their direct number is 0800 013 2632 and they are open between the following hours:

Monday - Friday: 08:00 - 20:00
Saturday: 09:00 - 19:00
Sunday: 09:00 - 18:00
