Slightly intermittent FTTC

Hi all!
Had a nice man from BT install FTTC yesterday (poor bloke had been running around a muddy field most of the day!) and last night I couldn't get online until just after midnight. This morning it seems fine but I do keep getting the BT wholesale page every now and then. For some reason when I open Google Chrome it tends to default to this and on the odd occasion on my ipod touch it does the same. A moment later its fine.
I'm guessing this is something in the system settling down but I just wanted to ask in case there was something more.
That aside, I'm online at about 37mb which is quite fun!  Cheesy

Re: Slightly intermittent FTTC

NetGear, which was good as all the others are Netgear.
All seems to be calm now  Smiley

Re: Slightly intermittent FTTC

Hello
Just had an outage for half an hour or so with the BT page telling me:

You have been connected to this page due to one of the following reasons. You must now shut down your browser and Internet applications before attempting to reconnect.

•The BTWholesale access circuit to your Service Provider is currently down.
Your service should be resumed soon.
Or
•You are testing your local connection to BT using
'bt_test_user@startup_domain'
Or
•You are testing your connection to your Service Provider using 'bt_test_user@domain' where domain is your Service Provider domain name.
Or
•Your Service Provider is currently unable to accept your connection request please wait until service is restored or contact your Service Provider for further information.
Or
•You have attempted to access an invalid Service Provider domain.

SO I'm guessing any issues may be between the new box down the road and beyond

Re: Slightly intermittent FTTC

I suspect what's happening here is your router isn't picking up DNS servers automatically. You can solve that by logging in to the router and specifying them manually, we'd recommend any two of:
212.159.6.9
212.159.6.10
212.159.13.49
212.159.13.50
Once you've put them in and saved the settings you should find things start working for you, hope it helps.

Re: Slightly intermittent FTTC

If that doesn't work then actually powering off the router for a few minutes or so (leave the modem on though) and then turning back on should sort it. Please let us know how it goes.
