Significantly slower speeds after switching from Sky.

Downloads of between 8 - 9 Mbps regularly with Sky ADSL broadband, and uploads of between 0.8 - 1.6 Mbps. Switch to Plusnet ADSL and download speed never goes above 5 Mbps, and upload is consistently 0.29 Mbps. Am I being capped? All equipment used is identical to my Sky setup (Draytek Vigor 120 modem with TP-Link WDR3600 router). The only difference is the provider. Help!

Re: Significantly slower speeds after switching from Sky.

Hi @SDH74 - welcome to the forum.

Sight of your router stats (minus any personal info) would give us a better chance of advising you.

The more detail you can give the better - would you have any router data from your time with Sky, for instance, to allow a comparison to be made?

Re: Significantly slower speeds after switching from Sky.

Probably via an LLU connection at local exchange; you'll now be on one managed by Openreach which may well be lower speed. Tap link below to identify the potential for your line via BT Wholesale url. PN will have given you an estimated speed when you signed up; what was it?

Re: Significantly slower speeds after switching from Sky.

Thanks guys. I'll run that test when I get back to my PC.

Re: Significantly slower speeds after switching from Sky.

I ran the test and the results were :

6.81 Mbps Down
0.78 Mbps Up
27.25 Ping

All subsequent speed tests have echoed these higher results, so it seems to have remedied itself.

Thank you fellas.
