Should my line quality be this bad?

I use my line mainly for gaming whilst not working and fetching email and surfing whilst working from home.
I keep experiencing spikes in Ping (up to 1000) that make gaming impossible.

Hi lukedouglassmith,
I've just made some changes to your line following the issues you've had with it. You should notice your speeds are now back to normal. Please let us know if you continue to have an erratic TBB graph and we'll take another look for you.
