Fibre finally installed today.
From when the engineer first phoned me to warn me the phone line would be cut off for 10 minutes, to when he eventually left, it was all done in 35 minutes.
My line is connected to a new 6ft tall Huawei FTTC cab, but the OR uniformed engineer who turned up in an unmarked white van, installed an ECI modem. (B-FOCus V-2FUb/r Rev.B)
Only one question. Should I have received a Huawei modem or is it just luck of the draw as to what model of modem the engineer may have in the back of his van?

in particular reply No 2
In summary
Initially BTOR staff were told they must match
Now it seems not to matter.
Conclusion: BT are remotely monitoring the performance of the modems and have decided that there is not much between them in real life so it is less important

It's a little tricky as it seem there are several sizes
Huawei 288 lines, 128 lines and the never yet seen 96 lines
ECI 128 and 256 lines
This web page might help as it shows some of them
