Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

Problem seems to have started mid afternoon today, but this evening Online games are unplayable, minimum latency 600ms withour braodband pro. usually sits a happy 30-40ms on WoW all night.
BT test shows DL at 2.00 and upload at 0.09, pretty shockingly low results.
Speedtest .net similar:    http://www.speedtest.net/result/2506930782.png
Have messed about with 2nd router, always cabled to gaming pc anyways no wireless rubbish!, Put computer into DMZ etc and results still the same.
Tracerts to BBC and wow servers giving 500ms + at every hop after our own router.
Can anyone shed any light on this issue?

Re: Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

Go here:
http://usertools.plus.net/@gateway/
Are you on PCL-AG07 or 08?  If so, it is this:  http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,111170.0.html
Disconnect and reconnect your router and it should go away.  (or hang around for 10 mins or so and someone will have fixed it)

Re: Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

I'm on ptn-ag02, what the hells going on ?

For years my ping time used to be 23 to 26ms as shown in my signature with 2ms jitter, but for weeks now the lowest I've seen was 44ms.
Why has my ping time doubled ?

Re: Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

You are currently connected to the gateway known as pcl-ag01
Have restarted router several times for various durations this afternoon/this evening, results in the same latency within about 5-10 mins or reconnection, sometimes a bit better sometimes a bit worse, this time for example 400 ms instead of 600ms, but thats a mile away from my usual 30....

Re: Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

Can you guys do some traceroutes to www.bbc.co.uk and paste them here.  Also, complete the btspeedtest and paste the results.  (Including the "further diagnostics" page)

have been running tracerts to WoW all night, since about 5pm, all of them pretty similar, not had much better than 400ms on any hops in any of them.

Are you speeds a lot lower than usual?  Or are you just seeing the really high latency?

Re: Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

purleigh:  Your line is now interleaved.  That explains the jump in base ping (but not the variability of that ping to the beeb, the packet loss, or indeed why you've become interleaved).
Can you do that mtr again?

Re: Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

Generally browsing has been a little slower than usual, facebook/gmail/these forums etc, but not disasterous, just noticeably slower, though around 6pm was pretty much grinding to a halt on all fronts for a time regardless of what we tried to do.
The latency itself has just been constant, After restarting router each time and reconnecting to WoW, it starts at 100ms but within 5 minutes is back up to 500ms+ every time, even been in the 2000+ range at points during the evening.
Have checked from several machines in the house aswell, do seem to be getting same sort of results on speedtests etc from all of them.

Re: Seriously rubbish latency and Broadband 13/2

@kelly -
Is it possible to find out when my line went to being interleaved ?
What would trigger a line to become interleaved ?, as far as I know my line has always been noise free and at maximum bandwidth for a max DSL line, i.e. 7.150Mbps.
What do I need to do to remove interleaving and ensure that it doesn't return ?
With the recent latency problems, I have not seen ANY drop in speed, but have seen frequent but short periods where multiple web pages don't load on first attempt but always subsequently appear correctly with a browser refresh - mostly on eBay !.
In an attempt to overcome these page loading problems, I have set my DrayTek gateway to reserve 25% of upstream bandwidth for QOS, and enabled "Outbound TCP ACK Prioritization" and "UDP Bandwidth Control", with some but not complete success.
Because I have lost significant upstream speed by enabling outbound QOS, would it be at all possible to upgrade my line AT NO COST TO MYSELF to "Max Premium" to uncap my upstream speed, so that I can assist you with debugging this issue with the fastest capability achievable on my connection ?
