Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

Plusnet may say they won't give support on how to connect the camera to the network as they don't know how the camera works / functions are set etc.
Technically it should connect up to the router supplied by Plusnet (Technicolor 582n) - you might want to try manually setting the IP address and DNS servers on the camera if it will physically connect to the wireless but can't access the internet.

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

How far have you got setting it up for the network, what router are you using and what issues are you having ?
If you are setting the IP manually then try 192.168.1.50 for the IP address, 255.255.255.0 for the netmask and 192.168.1.254 for the gateway (assuming a standard TG582n router). DNS server can be set to 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS)

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

It could be similar to the issues highlighted in this thread :
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,122172.16.html
It also may have absolutely nothing to do with the problem but it would be a good place to start Smiley

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

Hi DomS
Thanks for speedy response.
I am using a standard TG582N Router.
I have found that this camera connects to various networks including the hotspot outside our local without problem!
It discovers my network, I enter password carefully.Doesn't connect.
I have tried entering the settings that you suggested manually.
At first this seemed promising and I set up an email. However, during sending the connection was dropped and an error msg. came up....weak wifi connection.
I think that my wifi signal is fine as my other gadgets work well.I was close to my router.
Thanks again.

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

It may be worth trying a shorter password for the router if you are using a long one, also don't be too close to the router as it can actually be detrimental as it can over load some sensitive Wifi receivers.
If you browse to 192.168.1.254, does your wireless security mode read "WPA + WPA2 Mixed Mode" ?

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

Hi
Security on my router is set to WPA-PSK+WPA2-PSK
And my password is a mix of 10 letters and nos.
I think we are getting there!
Thanks.

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

I'm out of any further suggestions other than have a bit of a fiddle and see if it helps. Don't drop down to WEP though for security as it is rather insecure.

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

Just had a quick look at the settings on my 582N - they seem to work for everything that needs to connect.
WPS Enabled - ticked
Broadcast Network Name - ticked
Allow new devices - New stations are allowed (automatically)
Security Mode: WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

Hi
Thanks again.
I think I'll try without security as a test.
Will keep you posted.

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

Hi DomS
Tried disabling security on router and near to and far from router..Seemed to make no difference.
Sees my network, connects then looses connection due to weak signal during email.
Will try some more.
To me my router is crippled!
Thanks again.

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

Maybe try manually assigning the channel on the router to a lowish number (1-3) and see if that helps.
The 582n isn't the best router out there but generally it works with most things. As with any router though, there may be incompatibilities. I had an issue with one of my devices on my TP-Link but it would connect to my Edimax repeater without a problem.
Fingers crossed you manage to work it out !

Re: Samsung Camera WB50F

I have found that this does seem to be a compatability issue.
Camera will not connect to Plusnet router.
Using my trusty Netgear again!

Not a bad thing to do really if it works ok Smiley
Handy to have the Technicolor as a spare just in case though. Thanks for posting back with your solution Smiley
