Sam Knows White Box and Plusnet support and drop in download speed

Please Plusnet. educate the tech support people on the use and properties of the SamKnows white box and to use what ever results are available from the device to help diagnose line issues.
Currently my FTTC line speed has gone from 62Mbs to 17Mbs since last Friday

Why is this happening????????????????

Hi,
We'll do our best to help you with any issues, but that isn't what the box is for and to keep things impartial we're not even supposed to know that you're using one.
I can't see any obvious issues that might be causing this drop in speeds for you so please head to the fault checker: http://faults.plus.net

Re: Sam Knows White Box and Plusnet support and drop in download speed

I ran the BT Wholesale test and BT says that result was OK however the achieved speeds are less than 50% of the speeds I was achieving last week.
So not impressed.

Re: Sam Knows White Box and Plusnet support and drop in download speed

What is the advantage of one of these Sam Knows boxes?
I have a very stable fibre connection.
(I have agreed to take one).

Re: Sam Knows White Box and Plusnet support and drop in download speed

It provides performance data to an organisation that is tasked on reporting internet performance across Europe
It gives the user a continuous monitoring of the performance of the broadband service. It provides year to date, month to date, week to date as well as day performance graphs.
So you can see if your connection is slow - or whether you are being impatient.

Re: Sam Knows White Box and Plusnet support and drop in download speed

The SamKnows is a broadband monitoring device. It simply plugs into your existing router and it sends stats to SamKnows. It doesn't take browsing history.  The EU Law has provided this because they wanna do lots of tests n all.  Roll_eyes

It's another example of how our unelected Eurocrats spend our hard earned taxes. I'm running a White Box as a matter of pricnciple & voting UK I P.  Kiss

In my opinion UKI.P is bad, they won't do us any good!  Trying to seperate us from EU, I don't think so! Why be independent?  Its gonna make problems worse!
I am thinking of doing Conservative

Sorry, I was just rather annoyed with the internet before.
BTW did you get my 582n router back?
It was sent to BT RETURNS (Was confused why it wasn't Plusnet Returns)

Re: Sam Knows White Box and Plusnet support and drop in download speed

Back to the opening post re the drop in download speed - after running thru the PN fault process last evening.
The speed as reported by Sam Knows has now gone back to 61.29 and Jitter levels are now back to .31
So I do not know what PN have done - I would be interested to know.
Looking at the ThinkBroadband Quality monitor for the connection there has been a large amount of latency occurring since Friday (when the performance started to drop)
