Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

I would not have thought it was possible to have an internet connection without your router showing a Gateway IP address.  Presumably it does have one, it's just not telling you what it is!  Something very wrong/weird is going on.

Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

I also have this router and experienced the same problem. It dropped signal a dozen times a day. I changed my DNS server to use opendns  and it stopped disconnecting. I have no idea why it worked but it did, maybe something to do with the routers firmware!  I later changed backed to "Get automatically from ISP" a few weeks later and i don't have that issue anymore. My Internet is far from perfect but this solved one of my issues. If you have tried everything else it's worth a shot. It's quite easy to change back if it fails!

Btw I have the same firmware.

Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

I dont think this is a netgear router problem, because your BT Voyager router was doing exactly the same.
If I have read this right, you now have 1, BT Voyager router, and 2. Netgear routers. Take one or two spare routers over to your friends house who is on O2, and ask them to test it for a few days to see if it's disconnecting on their connection. It's very unusual that 3 routers will all have the same problem.
If the routers are fine at your friends house and dont disconnect, it proves the problem is either in your house, or on the BT line.
Whilst your looking at your router stats next time, are the figures it shows you refreshed every few seconds as I'd like to know what the downstream noise margin is doing. On one of your previous posts, you say it's on 12.8db which is just a snap shot at that momment in time. If you press refresh button on you web browser every few seconds, is that figure varying a lot?

Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

I think you may be confused as I was initially - Edward3c has posted about his Netgear issue on a thread that is over a year old.
Plusnet had identified a bug in the Netgear firmware if you read the link I posted. There are several similar recent threads around this forum.
Whether the firmware issue has been resolved I don't know, I haven't researched it, but setting the DNS in the modem/router solves the issue in most cases.

Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

Sorry, I dont think you bothered to read the other topic mkc66 highlighted that she had posted previously, that the exact same problem is happening on a BT VOYAGER ROUTER aswell.
No research needed, the BT VOYAGER ROUTER does not run any netgear firmware.

Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

I repeat that was over a year ago and fixed. That WAS a line dropping issue. Edward3c is a Netgear specific issue and now!

Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

I stand corrected, I was responding to the original poster mkc66.
mkc66's problem does not read as a netgear problem, as two different routers having the exact same fault is highly unlikely.

Re: SORRY Netgear n300 dgn2200 problem connecting there must be a solution PLEASE

My problem was not specific to my netgear router which I am still using now and with Joannes help it was resolved, sure my connection drops once in a while well more the wireless bit goes awol but my connection is nothing to complain about very happy with Plusnet at the moment  Wink
Wouldnt mind a faster upload speed if possible
