SOPCAST etc. P2P?

Hi,
Question for you...
If I was to want to watch football on the net via SOPCAST etc. - which I'm not saying I do!!? Grin
Is this classed as P2P traffic, and so is hammered on the download speed during the time that match's are on!
It's just that reports from friends on other ISP's are favourable in that it works very well, whereas on Plusnet nothing seems to work in this regard.
Cheers,
Jon.

In addition, as a "legacy" Premier 1 customer.
What are the hard locks on the usage?
http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/quality_broadband/speed.shtml?WT.svl=bbyw_option4speeds#Option...
In that BBYW Options are all nicely listed, but I cant find what restrictions are in place for me!!
Cheers,
Jon.

Details for all of the legacy products can be found at http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/products/archive/index.shtml
Broadband Premier Option 1 in particular is at http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/products/archive/bb_premier1.shtml

Re: SOPCAST etc. P2P?

Thanks,
So I'm at 192kbps at the time I want to watch the game.
Therefore its an unusable service.
Not sure its very unreasonable to be able to watch streaming telly nowadays on the internet...
Whats the score with this? Are SOP etc. defo restricted the same as any other P2P?
Cheers,
Jon.

Unlikely, most streaming services are in the Titanium queue.
Even 4OD and the BBC iPlayer (using Kontiki P2P) are in the titanium queue.
however, it does depend on whether the SOP protocol are recognised by the ellacoyas, and for that we need probably Dave to log on to the forums and check - which is likely to be tomorrow? Smiley

Re: SOPCAST etc. P2P?

Most streaming applications like 4OD, Joost and iPlayer will be in gold queue. Most of the Chinese P2PTV applications though like SopCast and PPLive will either get classed as P2P or will be in the silver queue as "unknown" known if we don't have a signature for them.
This post describes the cost to us of providing streaming TV:

For the best performance you'd probably be better off on BBYW Pro as all traffic is gold or higher and there are no rate limits.
