[SOLVED THANKS!] Appallingly slow fibre

Hi guys
First and foremost, yes I've tried everything in the speed post.
I was quoted 78mb download and 20mb upload, accurate to within +-1Mb.
I'm getting 11Mb download (was 28mb on day 1, 16Mb on day 2 and 11Mb ever since - after an outage for a few hours where I got 'Concentrator not reachable error)
I'm getting 1.5Mb upload. My 3G is faster.
I'm approximately 15yds away from the green exchange box.
Why am I getting speeds akin to rural ADSL? Superfast Cornwall they said! etc.
PS I've tried speedtests on Android tablet, Mac, PC, Hackintosh and iPhone on N. I'm not feeling it at all.
Waiting 10 days to settle - its settling the wrong way. Whats the cooling off period? Over 10 days I hope? Just checking...
BT line test result:
Test Error
The system is currently busy. Please try again shortly, however if this problem persists, raise the issue with your service provider
Seems like a flaky flake machine to me.

Re: Appallingly slow fibre

Have you tried going directly into the modem bypassing the router

Re: Appallingly slow fibre

Welcome to the forums.
Try PC wired, rather than wireless if you can.
If you can try to connect direct to modem (bypassing router) using PPPOE setup on the PC as that will give best speed result.

Re: Appallingly slow fibre

You only need to try PPPoE direct to the modem if you've tried using a wired connection to the router and that is still slow.

Sorry, I should have been clearer.  Thanks for clarification jelv.

Re: Appallingly slow fibre

Cool I'll give that a go. My Hackintosh, when wired to the router, stalls after about 5 minutes. Could be the network card though. I'll try PPPoE using my laptop and CAT5 when I get in to rule that out.
Are there any users with faulty Technicolor routers out there (just for the record)? Seems like a pretty nicely featured one on the surface...but I will try and rule out a fault on that too tonight and report back.
Whats the script with reporting faults? Do we contact someone via these forums?
Thanks peoples.

Hi,
I've had a look into your account and profile, your account was not set to the correct profile. Apologies for that, I have placed a modify order that will give you the faster speeds and this is scheduled to complete tomorrow.
Let me know if everything is OK from your side once the modify order has completed.

Re: Appallingly slow fibre

Be sure to update us, for the record you cannot get much above 38 mbit over wireless on the TG582n the router is not fit for purpose.

Thanks for that Chris. I must say I prefer support via forum than phone, other companies should take note!

I see. Well that's something I can deal with later, for sure. I have a BTHH3 knocking about and a few other half decent N WAN capable routers. The joys of being a tech!
Thanks for info guys, great stuff  Smiley

++++  still, very possibly, the best (ISP) forum on the 'net.
(Just waiting for the 'Carlsberg' ad now).
Seriously, though, this forum probably sets Plusnet apart from other ISPs more than anything else.
Very glad the speed issue is sorted!
