however last month the DLM decided to drop this to 3db, i thought at the time that this was not a good idea as the number of CRC errors were excessive, sure enough this week the DLM agreed but has now set the SNR to 12db.
Result is that i now have no errors at all but my sync speed has dropped by a large amount.
Is it possible on plusnet to get a fixed SNR of 6db or will i have to go through the reset loop.
thanks
Mike

SNR has now dropped back to 3db again
Now i know that its recommended that you leave the router permanently on.
but for "reasons" i have to turn it off at night or when im not in the house.
Totally irrelevant i know, but i was with C&W LLU for 5 years before joining +net
same connection pattern but the SNR stayed at 6db the whole time.

Quote from: Oldjim Looking back through your posts it looks as though your sync speed is well below 8128kbps and as such it might be worth asking to be put back on ADSL1 on 21CN - this has a minimum default noise margin of 6dB so you wouldn't have the 3dB problem again
Hi jim
well at 6db its around...
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 443 / 7,104
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:26.5 / 43.5
which is ok as long as it stays at 6db as i has for the last 8 months.
I dont get any disconnections at that SNR and sync.

fully understand what you were trying to say, ( but funny as i used to do rock climbing, i think you have been watching too much Star-Trek)
My choice in that i will not leave the router on, so i will have to live with the consequences.
I just dont understand why the stupid BT DLM has suddenly decide after 8 months to drop my SNR to 3db which is too low for the line.

I can't understand why it's taken so long to drop the SNR down that low, I can try and reset it for you but I can't promise that it would stay set where we'd like it to be I'm afraid.

Shouldn't have to do it, and I think it's not recommended by Plusnet, but I tweaked the target up from 3 to 5 via Routerstats and have had no problems ever since, although interleaving refuses to switch off automatically. Probably worth a try if Routerstats/your router supports it - I can't speak for others but in my case the DLM seems to be too aggressive/optimistic/whatever for my connection.

Adem
dont worry its holding at 3db so far must be the nice weather,
but i agree with JayG "DLM seems to be too aggressive/optimistic/whatever for my connection” all of a sudden.
but thanks for your help, lovely for once to have an isp with real online support.
