I had a BT Engineer visit on Tuesday due to speeds taking a nosedive. He found a bunch of corroded terminals in the box outside (my line goes straight to exchange from there) and replaced them with gel ones.
The feeling is that those corroded terminals have been degrading the line in bad weather (damp getting in) which has been causing noise and hence my SNR target has been increased to compensate.
He couldn't prove this though as they are no longer allowed to do the SNR reset to test the hypothesis. Currently speed test is the same at just over 4mb whereas I used to get over 6mb.
Router stats are..
Modulation : G.Dmt
Annex Mode : Annex A/L
Line State : up
Lan Tx : 3492011
Lan Rx : 2032077
ADSL Tx : 484087
ADSL Rx : 6117330
CRC Down : 0
CRC Up : 8
FEC Down : 1
FEC Up : 817
HEC Down : 54
HEC Up : 0
SNR Up : 23.0
SNR Down : 12.5
Line Attenuation Up : 15.0
Line Attenuation Down : 35.0
Data Rate Up : 448
Data Rate Down : 6016
Does this sound like it could be the source of my problems? He says I should be able to get 1mb upload but getting nowhere near that. The download should be quicker too as he said the line (after repairs) was testing good for the area, which is rural to be fair but we are only 1mile to the exchange.

Hi kilauea72,
Glad you've requested Max Premium - that'll sort your upload out
I've submitted an SNR Reset for you which should bring your SNR down, please allow around 4 hours for those changes to take effect.

Thanks Chris - the download SNR has already dropped and the connection speed has picked up accordingly...I'll give it time to settle and re-run some speed tests but hopefully that's sorted it. I might get out and put some silicone sealant around that box outside too...
