Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

Well since my accidental line reset, and subsequent few days of stability at 6dB, the bloody DLM decided at around 11:55 last night to drop it back to 3db again!!!!!  Why?Huh
It seems insistent on keeping my line at 3dB when its not as stable as 6dB.  I would much prefer 6dB.  Is there any way of fixing my margin at 6dB at all, or can I fiddle with the technicolour router to fix it at 6dB.  Unsure if the DMT tool will work with this router.
Resync stats...
Apr 25 23:55:29 xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 7876 kbit/s, upstream: 888 kbit/s; output Power Down: 18.9 dBm, Up: 12.8 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 44.5 dB, Up: 24.6 dB; snr Margin Down: 3.2 dB, Up: 12.8 dB)
Whats my Line profile please currently, and can anyone from the digi care team try and find out why the DLM insists on keeping me at 3dB

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

Have you tried using ADSL2?
The command for that is: xdsl config adslmultimode=adsl2
To go back to ADSL2+ it's adsl2plus

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

Given your attenuation there is one option
Request that you be moved to ADSL1 with the upload uncapped
On ADSL1 I don't believe that the 3dB option exists

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

If you set it in the modem/router, you can change it any time.

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

I am not sure whether that has the same effect as changing the setting at the exchange but it is worth a try

How do you set it in the router, dmt tool dosnt work with the technicolor... Am happy to give cli commands a go, if there is an option to do that. I presume doing this would be like dmt and not survive reboots...

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

You can do it using the telnet command - page 730 of the CLI Manual on the 585v7 and page 856 in the 582n CLI Manual

You can get it from http://wiki.aa.org.uk/index.php/TG582N
Page 856 is where I got the information I posted in reply #16

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

The page refs appear to be the xdsl command as detailed by @jelv to set the mode (adsl2 etc). There is no reference in the 585 manual (R7.4) for forcing a SNRM value that I can find.

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

There appears to be an undocumented command for setting maximum ADSL speeds:
xdsl maxspeed [rx = <number>] [tx = <number>]
If you reduce the speed, that might increase the stability and noise margin.

Perhaps, but it seemed to refer to the following posts:

which are definitely setting the SNRM Roll_eyes

Re: SNR Reset needed?? (Annoyed now!!!)

No - we are discussing changing the mode from ADSL2 to ADSL1 in the hope that being on ADSL1 will stop the noise margin dropping below 6dB which will work if the mode is set to ADSL1 at the exchange but we are not sure if it will work when setting it at the router
