Is there not a more reliable router than the Thompson ? I seem to spend more time resetting it than surfing.

Yes, but you'll have to buy one yourself unless your's is still under warranty whereby PN will send you a replacement if you ask them. You'll probably have to initially file a fault.

Why do you need to reset it?
Depending on your answer, it might be the case that he problem is not the router but something else.

In another browser tab, login into the Plusnet user portal BEFORE clicking the fault & ticket links
