Router playing up - customer support want me to reset it

Customer support have said that they want me to reset my router, TG582n FTTC, but I'm wary of doing that because I'm not sure of my password and settings. Is there a guide and a way of confirming my settings and password before I embark on this?
Any advice or hints and tips are welcome.

Thanks @Oldjim - the part that I'm worried about is putting in the password. I'm not sure what mine is - is this the password that I log in to the plus.net website with?

[Edit] link doesn't work correctly so deleted as not helpful.
There's a link on the page Oldjim gave, It doesn't paste in here properly (for me anyway).
Here's the main info:
How to setup your router
    Enter admin as the Username.
For the Password enter the SN number shown on the bottom of your router and your setup card (it starts with CP)
    Click OK to continue.
Enter admin as the Username. For the Password enter the SN number shown on the bottom of your router or your setup card (it starts with CP)
Now you'll need to enter your Broadband Username and password.
Find your Broadband Username under Connection Settings in My Account
The password is the one that you use to log in to this website
EDIT "This website in this case is the portal not the forum"
