Router disconnects about once a day

Hi,
For quite a while now I have suffered apparently random disconnects on average about once a day - if you look at the BQM in my signature you will see there have been two over the last 24 hours. The underlying modem connection is rock solid and has been for about a month now, so I don't know what is causing it. Is it likely to be a router fault? I have the ZyXEL but could swap it for a Netgear. I really don't want to do anything to upset my connection as, when it is connected, it is nice and fast and stable, better than it has been for many months.

TBH it can be very hard to identify the cause of this kind of issue when the drops are so infrequent.
Personally I'd want to keep an eye on things at this stage but wouldn't be too concerned as I can see prior to the last 48 hours you've had much longer connections in excess of 3 days at a time.
Let me know if you see anything more significant.

Thanks Adam, I'll leave it for now, it's a bit inconvenient as it tends to happen at the worst possible moment. I've tried rebooting or powering off the router (the ZyXel doesn't seem to have the ability just to disconnect and reconnect) but I don't think it gets it back any quicker than just leaving it to sort itself out.

Strange you should post that Adam - as you can see it disconnected twice this morning after a stable couple of days. Was that anything to do with your producing the graph?

Just gone again, that's three times in a couple of hours. Why is it doing this? Is it worth trying the Netgear router?

No, there's no way that could cause that to happen, the two things are totally unrelated.

As mentioned it's not really possible for us to diagnose issues of such a low level of disconnections as it shouldn't be having any negative impact on your experience of the service. A connection such as yours can and probably will drop occasionally and the service isn't guaranteed as constant connectivity I'm afraid.

However, if this does concern you trying an alternate router would be a good place to start.

Any idea what happened between 2 and 3 am today (see BQM link in sig)?

Looks like a drop in sync from your radius logs:

Not sure what might have caused that though :/

It looks like the maintenance in Guildford is quiet a big job too....it's affecting several thousand customers so there's a good chance it will have been that.
