Router Sync Downstream @ 5280 Kbps - Actual Downloads Only 2500 Kbps??????

Hi Guys
Just completed a plusnet speedtest and the best I got was around 2500 Kbps, but my suggests I should be getting  faster speeds.
My router is reporting:
Downstream Rate: 5280 Kbps
Upstream Rate:           448 Kbps
Anything I can do to speed up my connection?
Thanks guys.

Run a BT speedtest and see what your IP profile is set to as that determins your data rate? Also post what it says for high speed broadband on the member center uder connection settings.
Also post your routers line stats.

Run a BT speedtest

Cheers Peter
Tried the BT Speedtest earlier, but it seems to be having problems.  Kept saying there was a system error or summat. Sad

Re: Router Sync Downstream @ 5280 Kbps - Actual Downloads Only 2500 Kbps??????

Just looked on the Plusnet page you mentioned Peter and it states 3500Kbps.
Another page suggests that with a sync speed such as mine (5280 Kbps), I can theoretically expect 4500Kbps.
So any ideas why ony 2500 Kbps D/L speeds?
Ta!

a well known problem with BT speedtester, nothing you are doing wrong, keep trying, eventually it will work, it is the only one that will give the results PlusNet want.

Your router must have resynced at a lower rate recently and BT have reduced the IP profile to match. While it only takes a max of 75 minutes for the IP Profile to reduce, it will take up to 5 days to increase again. One of the MAJOR flaws with BT's ADSL implementation  Sad
