Router Suggestions - Fibre Line

The Technicolor TG582n seems to be a good bit of kit if all you want to do is browse the web and don't care about anything other plugging it in and leaving it.
I usually avoid ISP provided kit due to the woefully inadequate "simple" interfaces and generally poor performance. Not to mention the pushed firmware updates that scrub settings and reset everything to the vendor defaults. Thus re-enabling unsafe functions I'd turned off because I know better (uPNP anyone)?
Since its using my electric bill and Plusnet seem intent on inflicting its will on my settings - its time to replace this cheesy, slow, white box of woe, with a more capable bit of kit.
Can I just grab any "Cable" enabled router with a WAN port since the Openreach box outputs Ethernet?
If there is a compatible routers list for Fibre enabled connections that I've missed, please do point me at it.
Much Appreciated

Pretty much anything with Ethernet WAN and PPPoE connection setting will work, just choose the one with the features / quality & performance that suits you best, you can probably find something anywhere from about £15 or £20 to well over £200.
There are a few with built-in VDSL2 modems that will also replace the BT Openreach modem.

Bear in mind that Plusnet have insanely long PPP timeouts which mean that if you disconnect your old router from the modem without doing a clean disconnect from the router web interface it will take between 6 and 8 minutes before you will be allowed to connect again - you have to wait until the stale PPP session is killed off by Plusnet's servers.

With a bit of extra reading its looking like I will go with a ZyXEL with an in-built VDSL Modem to get rid of the Openreach box as well, which will free up some power sockets.
Thanks all

Well I never have that problem using my Asus RT-N56U. I agree, my old PN supplied router used to take an eternity but it's a rubbish router so I expected nothing else.

Re: Router Suggestions - Fibre Line

Some routers can do a "dying gasp" release of the PPP connection - when they detect power is going they bang out the PADT frame to end the PPP session.  Your ASUS might do that.  Or it might fake a PADT before trying to bring up the connection (that's what I do on my homebuilt router).  It is also possible you just didn't see it because it took you more than 6-8 minutes to swap your routers over and get them configured onto the line.
This is a configuration issue with Plusnet's servers and anything which goes away without sending a PADT first will leave you with a fibre connection which is unusable for 6-8 minutes.
