Router Auto Re-set

I have read the advice that the router should be left on 24/7 and have tried to keep to this (except when YEDL lost our power for 14 hours recently.  A day without broadband is like a ??????
However, my Belkin router has what it calls "self healing".
The relevant section in the set-up says this:
"Self Healing > Regular Maintenance
Regular router re-initialization is helpful in maintaining a more problem free network.
Auto initialize my router weekly > Enabled Disabled

Set Days >
SUN
MON
TUE
WED
THU
FRI
SAT
Set Time >"
Question, do I enable this feature or not?

Re: Router Auto Re-set

hahahahahahahaha..
"Self healing" .... what rubbish.  What they really mean is the software (and maybe even hardware) is broken, and periodic reboot is all they can manage to fix it.
On the basis that they feel it's needed, I'd suggest enabling it, and let it do it weekly.

Re: Router Auto Re-set

As Phil said, it won't do any harm letting it reboot once a week. Smiley

Re: Router Auto Re-set

I leave mine off. I reset my router to factory settings and it turned self healing back on and I forgot about it. It was set for 3:30 am tuesday mornings and both times it reset the router the sync speed dropped. Which in turn dropped my speed. So while ever you have a BT line I would leave it off.
