Hi,
I've been away for 2 weeks and although I normally leave the router on this time I turned it off. I reconnected yesterday and seem to be getting speeds of 700-800k b/s instead of the normal 3Mb/s. Would BT have reset my profile as I'd been off line for 2 weeks and therefore will this return to normal in the next few days or do I have a bigger problem?
Thanks,
Simon

Welcome to the Forum
What time of day did you switch it back on?,, any time after about 2 PM will get you a slow connection, best from about half our after sunrise up to about 1 pm.
You should not loose speed by it being off for 14 days

Simon, I always switch my router off whilst I am on holiday. Just got home from a month away and got my usual speed of 6Mb.

My connection speed has now improved to 1280 kbps
----------------------
Download speed achieved during the test was - 633 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 200-1000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :1280 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 1000 Kbps
-----------------------
but it's still about 50% what it was before I went away. I'm concerned that this speed is not going to allow me to work from home over our VPN which is going to be a serious issue.
Here are the router stats :
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1280 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.0 db 29.0 db
Noise Margin 12.3 db 19.0 db
PLUSNET Staff - I started to raise a ticket but the test above implies this result is in the right ballpark even though I had about double the speed two weeks ago before I went o holiday and had had that for a number of years before then. Can you advise or look at anything from your end?
Thanks,
Simon

Hi ferraris,
Having just ran a line test, with attenuation of 48, even with SNR at 12dB you should be getting a much higher sync rate. Have a look at our guide to troubleshooting slow speeds If that doesn't help I would definitely raise a fault as I don't think you're getting as good as your line can take.

Hi Plusnet People,
Normality is returning to my BB connectivity and for the past few weeks the router is syncing at 4.5-5Mb/s however my BT profile still seems to be stuck at 2 Mb/s and speedtest is giving me about 3.5Mb.
Obviously at these levels I need to eek out as much speed as possible. Is there anything you can do to release any more speed?
Thanks,
Simon

HI ferraris,
I see your profile at 3500. Are you in the test socket at the moment as you would probably get a better sync rate there?
