Restricting upstream sync with TG582

Does anyone know whether it is possible to set a target noise margin or do something else to cut the upstream sync back a bit when using the TG582?
This morning I had to resync and ended up with this in the router log:
<173> Jan 27 10:20:24 xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 16459 kbit/s, upstream: 1251 kbit/s; output Power Down: 20.0 dBm, Up: 12.6 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 21.5 dB, Up: 11.8 dB; snr Margin Down: 6.1 dB, Up: 6.6 dB).
20 minutes later I lost the connection again and looking at the CRC error count and the RouterStats graph it was obvious that it was the upstream that caused the resync. This time I got:
<173> Jan 27 10:44:03 xDSL linestate up (ITU-T G.992.5; downstream: 16280 kbit/s, upstream: 1239 kbit/s; output Power Down: 20.0 dBm, Up: 12.6 dBm; line Attenuation Down: 21.5 dB, Up: 11.8 dB; snr Margin Down: 6.1 dB, Up: 6.6 dB)
This is still faster upstream than I need so I'd happily cut it back to say 1000.
Does anyone know if this can be done?

Re: Restricting upstream sync with TG582

Im quite sure the snr Margin for upstream can only be set from the exchange end. only the down stream snr Margin can be set from the user end but even then it will slowly change back. So it pointless anyway.
I think before the upstream is uncaped (0.30mb) the line will sync at that speed and not just a limiter on the speed its self. So this would have the effect your looking for but only at 300kbit/s and not 1000kbit/s.

Re: Restricting upstream sync with TG582

Hi jelv,
It can't be done via the TG582. UPstream on ADSL2 is either 448K or uncapped which is technically up to 1.2Mb There is no inbetween. Only inbetween you can do is if you go ADSL1 over 21CN in which case you'd get a max of 8mb down and 888k up.
