In the last few weeks I've often seen on these forums the advice to reset/restart the router apparently to get a better sync speed (whatever that is).
Is this generally worth trying? I assume this means selecting restart on the routers own pages?

If you restart too often you will end up with a LOWER sync speed. Try rebooting at different times of the day, rather than 3-4 times in a row. You can use the reboot option on the menu or switch it off/on.
Your sync speed is the speed you are connected to the exchange at.

So it's worth just trying the odd time just to see if it makes any difference?
What times are best? I assume busy times are a no no?

Busy or not doesn't make any difference, I find that mid afternoon is good, but YMMV. If you are happy with the speed then there is no need to,
