Request to confirm identity

Hi Guys,

I have received an email from Plus Net Support from an address lyjgi@cira.ca asking that I confirm my identity following attempted log ons, first from USA and then from Antwerp, Belgium and warning me that my account would be suspended if I don't!!!!  I do not associate that email address with Plus Net, so is this some kind of a scam? By the way, there are no instructions on how I am to confirm my identity.

Many thanks,

Alex - very firmly in UK

Re: Request to confirm identity

Cira.ca is the Canadian Internet Registration Authority. Presumably your email address has been picked up by the bad guys who are up to no good.

It might be worth running your email address through this web site and if necessary change it. https://haveibeenpwned.com/

Re: Request to confirm identity

Hi @Alex_Hamilton

Having checked your account it does not look like we have sent you an email regarding this.

Baldrick1's "haveibeenpowned" suggestion isn't a bad starting point to be honest.

Let us know the results?

Thanks

Re: Request to confirm identity

I have run the check that Baldrick suggested and I can report that my email had not been violated, which is good news.  I am sending you below a copy of the email I received, which purports to be from Plus net.

Thank you for your help,

Best regards,

Alex
