if any one from PN is on this forum at the moment can you please arrange to uncap my U/L speed.
I had an incident # 56687616 going back to June 2012, due to a intermittent fault which was eventually cleared by BTW. The line has been pretty stable since then and I have been experiencing D/L speeds of around 1M to 1.3M (this is good since I'm 6.6kM from BT exchange), but I hoped that by capping my U/L speed I might see an increase in my D/L speed.
My U/L speed was capped effective 06 July but as you can see from the figures below the only thing that has really changed is my U/L speed has dropped as a result of being capped. My D/L speed has remained virtually unchanged (down a bit I guess). My SNR has been pretty stablke at around 6bd during the times shown. I also include my current router stats (Voyager 2110).

Just been looking into this and it's a bit of a strange one but I have seen it before. What it is; the BT system currently has your line showing as already uncapped on the ordering process but the MSAN profile is set at 448k. So, the only way to get the uncapped back is to place an order for the line to be capped (which I've just done) and then another one to uncap it again. I know it's a bit odd but it's also probably a much quicker way than going through the fault process.
The order I've just placed will complete on Tuesday, so ask one of the DC guys on Tuesday to place the upcap order for you. This way it'll be done by Wednesday.

many thanks for that, I have checked now and my BT (D/L) profile is 1.54M but PN profile is 1.2M. Any chance of a nudge up of the PN profile?
Perhaps the line was not really capped before

By the way, as we often get confused over this point, it's only Annex M where the there is a definite sacrifice of a small amount of D/L speed for the extra U/L and Plusnet only offer Annex M on business accounts.

anyone from PN on the forum?
If so could you please request an uncap of my D/L speed as per Jojo's comments above. (see related incident number 57674926)
ta.
@Anotherone Thanks for that clarification. Hmmm .... thinks if the BT tester shows U/L and D/L IP profiles on 21CN how come PN IP profile still only shows D/L profile??

The order Jojo placed has completed, when trying to place a request to uncap your U/l it is still seeing it as uncapped, as were not seeing the speed for it being uncapped, we'll do an SNR reset on your line to try and rectify this, just want to make sure your connection is stable first, leave your router switched on and I'll check on your connection in the morning.

Having looked at the line I think we'd be best investigating the dropping connections that are causing your slow speeds - latest profile update on your line shows a sync rate of around 1.2Mb when it looks like you should be more used to 5Mb plus?
I suspect that's the main reason you're not showing a better upstream profile to be honest. If you could run through the faults wizard at http://faults.plus.net and raise it as a dropping connection fault (though probably worth mentioning you're in sync below the FTR - Fault Threshold Rate - as well) we'll get it sorted for you. Once that's done we'll get a much better result from the SNR reset Chris suggests above.

I'm quite amazed at your comment "latest profile update on your line shows a sync rate of around 1.2Mb when it looks like you should be more used to 5Mb plus?"
Since I have NEVER had any line sync greater than about 1.8M, remembering my line is 6.7kM from the BT exchange.[BUT IF YOU CAN GET ME A SYNC SPEED OF 5M PLUS - TELL ME MORE].
Any disconnections in the past 3 weeks were probably due to me trying to get a BT 2w router working on this line (I failed miserably to get it working). However I did notice on the most recent router stats that the line up count had gone up to 4 overnight?
I restored my trusty Voyager 2110 several days ago and was trying to obtain a higher D/L speed but Anotherone explained quite well why that won't happen on my residential service. So can you please just arrange to uncap my U/L speed, which is all this thread is about.
Sorry but I need to be convinced of the need to raise a fault ticket at this stage, I attach my current router stats for info :-

Quote from: dvvrue95 ......... I have checked now and my BT (D/L) profile is 1.54M but PN profile is 1.2M...........
Out of curiosity how did you manage that (or was it a typo)? Your sync speed on the 14th was 1354 & currently 1285.

the BT value came from the BT tester ???? and the PN value came from their website.
What do they say something about "lies and statistics".

many thanks. I found my router locked up about 15 mins ago, your line reset I guess? Anyway had do do a power down/up without a "graceful" disconnect just for the record. As you say lets see what tomorrow brings

I'll check later this afternoon but I suspect we won't see any results until tomorrow I'm afraid.
Regarding the disconnection, that seemed to lead to an increase in upstream speed so it might have been that that caused the drop - bit late for the upstream order to complete but sometimes that happens. I'm by no means certain of that though.
