Renumbering in new News Server - Wow!

Having read about the new news server I wasn't surprised when I observed an exceptionally large download a few days ago when I accessed usenet "Ah! yes, renumbering on the new server" I thought but I wasn't expecting quite what I got.  Luckily I was downloading headers only for four groups because the headers went back to 2005!
I've now deleted all the duplicate headers and have successfully downloaded all the full articles I require so I'm back to normal but, just out of interest, I thought I'd see how long the full articles were being kept on the new server and to my amazement discovered that, even in very busy groups, full articles back to 2005 were still there!

This is on the new Usenet service?
Bob did mention that retention on the Supernews platform was good... that's *very* good!

I assume it was.  I hadn't changed anything and my news server was still set to news.plus.net but the numbers suddenly shot up from 15,000 to 200,000.

Yup... we switched over to the new platform last week.  That'll be what is was then!
