Reduced IP Profile

I have noticed a slow down in my broadband recently and run the BT test which gives me an IP Profile of 2000Kbps.
I have a very stable connection being 0.5 miles from the exchange and router shows DSL connection rate of 8128 normally getting download speed of 6000+ now down to 1800.
Plusnet shows current line speed of 7.15 Mb.
I have only got 1 router and don't want to pay engineers fee.
How can I get the IP Profile changed?
Chris.

Re: Reduced IP Profile

2000 Kbps seems a favourite value for the BT profile to "stick" on, so there is a good chance this is what's happened to your connection.
Your line probably needs to be reset, which can either be done by raising a ticket, or possibly by asking the Digital care team who monitor this forum (but only office hours M-F).
(You might get asked to jump through the hoops of doing BT speedtest , connecting to the test socket and whatnot, but they only do that to try and eliminate more obvious possibilities first.)

Re: Reduced IP Profile

Hi Machinedoctor,
JayG is indeed spot on. the bRAS and DSLAM are showing different speeds. one is set to 2000 and the other 7150. I've reset the SNR so if you could runa a BT speed test a bit later and see whether it's changed that'd be great.

Re: Reduced IP Profile

Thanks for that joanne.
I shall do a test when I get home from work.
I have also just noticed after reading the guides that my exchange is ADSL2+ ready - whoopee.
I have raised a ticket to get upgraded - can't wait.

Re: Reduced IP Profile

No change ATM I am afraid.
IP Profile on BT speedtester still 2000.
But - do I need to restart the router?
Chris.

HI Chris,
I'll run some more tests and see what I can find out.

Re: Reduced IP Profile

HI Chris,
Our suppliers have advised that they have adjusted the bRAS profile. This should take effect within 4 hours. Let me know later if you see the speed increase.

Re: Reduced IP Profile

IP Profile now 7150 - great, thanks Joanne.
Download speed only 4395 but hopefully that is due to the time of testing.
looking forward to ADSL2.
Thanks for the help.
Chris.

Re: Reduced IP Profile

Hi Chris,
Let us know if it doesn't pick up and we'll do a bit more investigation. Hope it does though Smiley
