Red power light on router

We had a problem with our phone line and a BT engineer has come out and fixed it and was told that we should be able to connect to the internet again. When we turned the router back on the power light is red. Plus net chat said we will have to wait for another 3-5 working days for someone to ring us to see what the matter was. We've already waited 4 days previous to the BT engineer so was wondering if anyone could help us sooner.

Hi there.

If the power light is red on the router, it sounds like it's developed a fault.

Have you tried a factory reset by pushing a paperclip into the reset hole at the back for 20 seconds? -Anoush

I have several times but nothing seems to happen. The red light remains on, so i don't think its even resetting the router.

@sean123, when you powered the router back up, did you leave it to do is thing, or was it interrupted, e.g. by you turning it off and back on again?

When i held the reset button down for 20 seconds and released it, nothing happens. The red power light remains on and the green light on eth 4 remains green. No other lights are on. When Iv previously switched the router off and back on again 10 mins later, the red power light and eth 4 green light comes on. No other lights come on or flashes.

I'm talking about when you first turned the device back on after the engineer visit. Did you power it up once and leave it, or did you switch it off/back on again within 30 mins of powering it up?

We can't track router orders sadly. Sad

I'd give it another couple of days incase it's delayed in the Christmas post. Can you let us know if you don't receive it by Friday? I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused here.

Hi I have the same.problem. reset not working. Power light stays red. Modem is ok and I can access internet via cable. I went through the Plusnet problem solving pages and had a message they'd be in touch but nothing yet. I think I just need a new router?Huh
