Red light on router but still connected.

For the last 18 hours+ My Internet light on my Plusnet supplied router (Thompson) has had a red light on but the strange thing is that I have still got Internet connection. I thought a red light meant there was no connection or have I got it wrong?

are you sure that you are connected via your router? my be a close by neighbour, try going to you touter home page and see what it says  192.168.1.254

Deffinatly connected to Internet via my router.
