Recovering from Line Fault

My broadband has been up and down since last Monday week ago as there was a fault on my line. That was repaired this morning however my speed has dropped by more than half (Down from 37mbps to 16mbps) so not sure exactly what happens now to get it back up to speed. I know reconnecting again may get me a higher sync but obviously do that too soon and it may be treated as another drop when in fact my line has been rock solid for over 8 hours now.
Anything I can do or do I just wait?

Re: Recovering from Line Fault

Hi andun84
Can you post the result of a BT speed test for me so I can see what your current profile is?

Re: Recovering from Line Fault

Jojo,
BT speedtester saying:
Download max achievable speed is: 15966Kbps
> Download speedachieved during the test was - 14533 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 12000-15966 Kbps .
Additional Information:
IP Profile for your line is -15966 Kbps
Upload max achievable speed is: 10000
>Upload speed achieved during the test was - 2142 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 10000 Kbps
So that's looking like that it hasn't moved at all since the engineer has left  Cry

Re: Recovering from Line Fault

Hi andun84,
I would have expected the engineer to reset the profile while he was there. Maybe he did but it hasn't taken effect yet. I'll ask one of our fibre guys to take a look in the morning and see what they think.

Re: Recovering from Line Fault

I doubt he did. He wasn't interested in the broadband once he heard the noisy line. He got quite excited by quite how noisy it was  Shocked . Went away and fixed the fault (apparently a block at the end of the street was missing it's cover so that left it exposed to the elements). He said that he reterminated all the blocks on the row and put cover and on and sealed them against water. Never mentioned the broadband at all.

Re: Recovering from Line Fault

HI andun84,
The suppliers systems we use to check line stats is temporarily unavailable, so I won't be able to do anything until later. If you could run a BT speed test before then just to make sure the profile still hasn't changed that might help.

Re: Recovering from Line Fault

No problem Jojo. I can't run the speed test unfortunately as I'm in work so will not be back home until later this evening. If I haven't heard anything before then I'll run one as soon as I get.

Re: Recovering from Line Fault

The speedtester seems not to be working just now (though I've seen the other thread on here so looks like all day is more accurate) so I can't check it. My speed is at 13.73mbps down and 1.69mbps up.
Would turning the modem off and on be worth a try to see if it picks up a new profile (assuming there is one)?
