Recent speed drop.

I've had a consitant speed of 2.6 mb for at least six months. From the 19 November this has dropped to 1.8 mb. Around this time there were repeated line down disconnections. No changes in home.
Hopefully this is as requested.

Re: Recent speed drop.

The SNR has increased significantly. Looking at the errors there are some appearing, but with an uptime of 4 days the errored seconds aren't concerning me.
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:  16.0 / 12.5
I'm going to request an SNR reset on the line, that should take around an hour. If you can post the stats later on we'll take a look.

Re: Recent speed drop.

Well that's annoying! The SNR reset reported as successful, so I'd have expected the stats to change.
I'm going to suggest we put you on ADSL2+ and uncap your upload, this should kick things the right direction for you. The orders for this happen overnight, so if you let me know if you're ok with me doing that for you I'll get the order placed today. Just for confirmation, there's no charge for this.

Re: Recent speed drop.

I don't really understand what you are doing but if its faster and free I'd welcome it. Thanks.

Re: Recent speed drop.

Let me go see what we can do. Right, that's set to complete tomorrow, fingers crossed it sorts the SNR out.

Re: Recent speed drop.

Hi bumpershoot,
Well your sync speed has gone up, your IP Profile should have updated. If you run the BTw Performance test (DON'T REBOOT, ignore the red preamble except make sure no other programs are using the Internet) and at the end of the first run, click the Further Diagnostics button, enter just your Phone number and Run the Further Diagnostics Test.
Do a Copy and Paste of the results and post here (no need to grab an image). That will tell you the  BT IP Profile.
Your Current Line speed (Login required) needs to catch up (it may have already) and depends on BT servers sending a Delta Report to Plusnet's systems.

Re: Recent speed drop.

That's a good one, never seen that output from the BT speedtester before. We know it can be borked form time to time.
Was that the first stage or the second diagnostic stage?
What does your Current Line speed (Login required) say?

Re: Recent speed drop.

If that 2.7Mb is a recent update your sync speed (Bandwidth down) must have gone up again to around 3100.
Always good to post the TG582n Full DSL stats to see what is happening.
Try the TBB Tester if you can't get the BTw Tester to work, at least you should get a reasonable test result.

Re: Recent speed drop.

The speeds back to 2.5mb with an improved 500kb upload. Should I expect more if it is now ADSL2+?.

Re: Recent speed drop.

G.992.3 annex A is ADSL2 rather than ADSL2+ (which is G.992.5 annex A)
Can't help you more than that, but I'm sure someone will be along soon who can.  Wink

Re: Recent speed drop.

None of the speeds in this thread look particularly good assuming the reported line attenuation figure is accurate. According to the kitz max speed calc, your speed should be around 4 Mb.
For your line attenuation and line speed, the difference between ADSL1 and ADSL2 or ADSL2+ is not much, and the G.992.3 in those stats indicates your modem has automatically selected ADSL2. From those stats, I assume it's a TG 585v8?
Can you describe your telephone socket(s) and how your modem/router is connected to them? For any further speed increases, you'd have to start by considering your internal wiring and improving it if possible. Looking at some of your previous threads I see that you at least have a master socket with a test socket?
