Re: DNS weirdness

OK in a DOS window as you would normally do a tracert do this command Tracert 74.52.180.187
and it starts off like this
C:\Users\James>tracert 74.52.180.187
Tracing route to bb.b4.344a.static.theplanet.com [74.52.180.187] which isn't the name of your site
The IP address of the site is the one which the DNS servers show on the Tracert command

Re: DNS weirdness

I can bring up all sites I've tried but cannot bring up Plusnet Portal ie Log in page.
Is this possibly the same issue being raised here or likely to be something else ?.

Re: DNS weirdness

My instinct tell me it the same issue that's been discussed on PlusNet and supposedly fixed.  I get pretty dismal support direct from plusnet. If noit fixed in the next 2/3 days I shall have to leave.

Why don't you switch to OpenDNS as I suggested https://www.opendns.com/start/device/belkin

Re: DNS weirdness

It means that you aren't using the Plusnet DNS servers.
The DNS servers are the thing which converts your web site name to a number the internet can understand

It's the Internet equivalent of Directory Enquiries.
So you're changing from (say) 118 118 to 118 500 for example.
