Random multiple connection dropouts

Hello.
For the past month or so, my connection has once again been suffering from random multiple dropouts per day and having to resort to constantly manually resetting my router to reconnect again.
It's the same exact problem I have had since last year as seen here...

Barely a year and now it comes back yet again. Sad

Re: Random multiple connection dropouts

Hi Phatjayunoi,
I've taken a look over your connection and it seems that during the day your connection is OK;

Are there any electrical devices on in the evening that aren't on that during the day?

Re: Random multiple connection dropouts

sounds like my problem but mines all all throughout.
why do you ask for electrical items being on? interference i expect. if this is the case you cant have much faith in your equiptment. these days interfearance shouldnt be an issue unless theres something very close to the router causing the issue, which in most people's cases would be a no.

Try accessing the net when your line of sight is blocked by a honking big tv Smiley its not just interference electrical wise you have to worry about sometimes that devices shielding can be a pain in the rump to so nothing to do with faith at all

Re: Random multiple connection dropouts

Hello.
It seems to be very random then although most times during the mornings and afternoons it seems stable, but then this is usually after a period of constant disconnections from the PM till early AM's where I have to manually keep on resetting the router, by which there is a sort of stable period, and then the cycle repeats itself.
And no electrical devices that I know of. My computer and router have been in the same place for the past year and all the years before it. Nothing big or small has been added within the vacinity.
After last years problem that eventually got fixed, my Internet connection was fine, then as mentioned in the opening post, back to square one again.  Huh

because as things are failing they can give off massive unfiltered EMI, or sometimes surge on/off and overload there EMI protection circuit (if there new enough to have one)  even a pc fan with sticky bearings can generate the required EMI to cause a problem if its close enough to the line.
@OP
do you have a sky box and if so is it in the same room as your wifi router ? some of the older models have some weird interaction problem particularly the older model hd boxes that can cause there built in modem to send signals down the line that cut off the internet....... sounds strange but its happened to a lot of people in the past (the lucky ones like me got a free upgrade out of it)
its just an option mind you it could just as easily be down to a mobile phone
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

Re: Random multiple connection dropouts

Just dropped again a few moments ago.
Anyway I don't have Sky, nor do I use Wifi. I'm all wired and have been for the past decade or so.
Hardly the mobile phone when it's been here for years too and it suddenly was the problem now when it never was before.
As I've pointed out in the first post, the disconnects I am getting is the same that I had last year. I guess it's my line profile setting being changed/reset to an unusual state again?

Re: Random multiple connection dropouts

are the big gaps in the radius log you Turing off your router?
if they are its possible your router (and or its psu) are on the way out, things that are designed to be always on aren't built to take the stress of regular power on/off states and suffer from electrical breakdown much faster than when there left alone, also long periods of disconnection will often trigger dlm's to drop any fixed setup, meaning its possible that PlusNet redoing what they did last year could fix the issue but its Justas possible that a router change will do it
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you

Re: Random multiple connection dropouts

Hi Phatjayunoi,
I'd strongly recommend raising this to us as a fault at http://faults.plus.net so our team can look into it for you. That link will take you through a few checks to make sure it's not being caused by your equipment or internal wiring, and will then raise it through to our faults team who'll get it tested and raised for you.
