Radius Log Request

Not urgent, but is there any chance one of you helpful CRT could post my radius log for the period 09/03/2015 to now please?
Monitoring via JDS tells me I'm still getting resyncs in the dark hours, when I'm not using any equipment  -most of them, anyway
Had a bad afternoon yesterday as I had to reboot the 582,but usually these resyncs seem to when everything is switched off.
Despite the response on my last ticket to the effect that these changes are down to my own equipment, thinking about it now and matching most of them with when I'm using anything, I tend to quite strongly disagree.
I don't really want to lodge a formal fault just yet, as I will be away for most of April, but if whoever posts the logs wants to make any observations, they would be welcome.

Re: Radius Log Request

Hi there,
There logs we're able to generate only seem to go as far back as the 11th so I hope that's not an issue.
I can't see a clear pattern myself but I'd say that the only "regular" disconnections seem to be happening around 6am and 8pm.

Re: Radius Log Request

Thanks for that Adam.
I can still see a pattern though - and the majority are definitely outside of the times when I'm not using any of my equipment. My laptop is usually switched off by around 2030-2045, and I am only likely to use the iPad occaissionally after that time, too. If we accept your definition of 'regular' for the sake of argument, can you explain them? I have nothing which switches on or off at those times.
I will post my March JDS logs on Wednesday when the full month is available.
Just as a point of interest, I can't seem to see the rooter reboot on the log - it was certainly a longer gap than the picture seems to show - around 10-15 minutes if I recall correctly..

Re: Radius Log Request

PDF of my JDS log for March. Obviously only captures when the laptop is on, but gives a reasonable representation of when I've had DSL drops.

Re: Radius Log Request

Thank you for coming back to us.
I'm wondering if you may have other issues, possibly wireless as well. In regard to the above drops though, we can try putting interleaving on your line if it is not already there which should help matters. We also need to see what errors are on your line, as plugging the router into the master socket could well fix it.

Re: Radius Log Request

Tony - thanks for your reply..
I don't THINK it is really a wireless issue, but I could be wrong. I have a laptop in my upstairs 'office' which is connected via cable to the router and was playing aound with that lateish on last night when I had a couple of drops in quick succession.
I think interleaving is already on, from a fault raised some time back.
Plugging the router into the master socket/test socket I would like to leave as a last resort due to where that is - it requires me to have cables running across the kitchen floor and the machine on a rickety table - not ideal  Wink
Don't worry too much, as I'm away for three weeks from next Thursday, so don't really want to disturb things before then, and if then results in the need for an engineer, I think we're pushing things a bit to get it resolved in a week.
I just find it interesting that most of the drops are when none of my equipment is turned on.
Probably best to revisit this thread when I return home.

Shout!  Wink
Any chance of this months logs please?
Think I may have found the culprit - my neighbour who was on SKY has moved out - and miraculously my connection has been much more stable - but not rock solid, especially overnight.

Re: Radius Log Request

Cheers Chris - that appears to confirm my suspicions, although I still seem to be getting disconnected around 10PM fairly regularly. That''s nothing in this house - all equipment (laptop/Ipad &c is shutdown by then as I'm more of a very early riser than a late to bed person.
Merely out of curiousity, have you any ideas what might be causing this?

Re: Radius Log Request

Looking since the 25th, I'd go with something switching on/off between 10 and 11 and doing the same in the early hours.
Whilst this probably isn't a REIN issue, it's worth ruling out. I'd be looking to see if anything outside happens around this time. I've seen external issues with street lights causing problems, but the timings would suggest it wasn't that.

Re: Radius Log Request

Thanks Tony. I honestly can't think of anything doing that. The only electrical equipment round here, excluding streetlamps, which can obviously be discounted is a large substation about 200-250 yard away, but that is not really a candidate, either. I'll monitor over the week-end as it is interesting that I got 3 days clear until around 0400 Monday, then it kicked off again.
The only thing that worries me, is that I currently have a nice steady 9/9.2 Mb/s connection (checked hourly), and don't want DLM kicking in and killing it. Mind you, apart from a minor hiccup a couple of days after I got back, all seems to be well on that front, so I'm not going to stress over that.

Re: Radius Log Request

Sorry to awaken this one again - I'll try not to after this - but any chance of this months RADIUS log, Chris?
TIA

Re: Radius Log Request

Chris, I agree it doesn't look great, but as I've said previously, a lot but obviously not all of these disconnections occur when I'm asleep, so unless I can pick them up on the limited log in the router, I'm unaware.
Out of curiosity, do these include 'PPP  only' drops, as quite a few times when I have lost it when I have been using the computer, and therefore intentionally checking, they have only been PPP drops, not xDSL?
May not be pretty, but my speed has remained fairly steady around  9.4/9.7 as checked hourly by the JD speedtester., so I don't really want to disturb anything, unless you think there is anything to permanently gain?
