Quick q on interleaving?

If i request interleaving to be turned off to see if it improves ping in games, can it be easily turned back on again if it leads to connection instability?

Re: Quick q on interleaving?

I refer to the answer I gave previously Wink
Note: being on LLU I don't have the option but I believe you can turn it off via the portal. Whether you can turn it on again the same way I'm not sure.

[interleaving] can it be easily turned back on again ... ?

No.
Under: Member Centre ¦ Connection Settings ¦ Interleaving; There is a button to turn interleaving off. There is also the note "If you turn interleaving off, there is no option to turn it back on again"
So, I think that is clear.
Not all accounts have the option. I have one which doesn't (and another which does)..... so I don't know if that means its already off...?

Re: Quick q on interleaving?

If you don't see the setting you could raise a ticket to find out what it is.
However, from my reading of the BT SIN http://www.sinet.bt.com/386v3p0.pdf (See Section 4.4.2.6) Interleaving may be applied automatically  to repair difficult lines. But that the ISP can Opt Out to ensure that Interleaving is not applied. However, you may end up with a slower line.... or one that doesn't work at all.
Interleaving will increase round trip latency by 20 or 40 mS depending on the particular DSLAM.
The automatic line management should result in a report to the service provider. Could this information (interleaving) be presented in account portal with the BRAS rate?

Morning Jim.
The order has completed now.  How are your pings looking so far?

Not sure if you're aware Peter but we can now switch off interleaving on LLU lines. You're right in assuming that there are no portal controls to do this though.

Hi, Looks like its working well, i tried some bf2 out last night and was getting around 20-25ms ping where i would usually be getting around 40-60ms !
I noticed a couple of line drops early on yesterday but since then it hasnt dropped connection so it looks good Cheesy
