Question on 582N and MAC Addresses

I have three hardware items connected to the router, two wi-fi the other by Homeplug. The wi-fi items are an Ipod and and internet radio.
I would like to know if it is possible to substitute the hardware's name, e.g. Ipod, for the MAC Address to make identification easier.
I hope someone can help. Please! Smiley

Re: Question on 582N and MAC Addresses

Not related to the 582 but I use Network Scanner to identify equipment on my network and a 'friendly name' can be associated with each MAC.
The download link is at the bottom of the linked page.

Re: Question on 582N and MAC Addresses

I assume you are talking about the 582n GUI
From memory I think you
Click on Home network > Click in the MAC Address> Click on Configure.
You can change the name here, you can also change from 'generic device' to what the device actual issue. I use PDA for a iPod.
Hope that helps
Dan.

Re: Question on 582N and MAC Addresses

Thank you both.
@Strat I'm struggling with that one trying to get a friendly name in router GUI in place of MAC Address
@ Dandroid I cannot see Configure option.
Edit  Oops, I was looking in wrong part of screen. Embarrassed All now solved.
