Does the new firmware allow the usb slot to work with ntfs.
I received this router in the post 2 days ago and plan to use it for my usb drive but I read that last year it would only support Fat32 and not NTFS
My drives are all 160Gb small for most of you but large enough for my needs. ON researching the only way to get things to work would be splitting my drives into 32Gb chunks which presumably would be seen by the router as seperate drives and create 5 x the number of media folders in each.
Can anyone shed any light on the new firmware abilities?
cheers,
podman

How about using something (anything) other than Microsoft Windows to set up the drive as FAT32 Though MS Windows XP is fine, you can always download UBCD and use the Parted Magic tools

MS, for some reason (but I'm not telling ) decided to "force" users to their latest NTFS incarnation by limiting the FAT capability. UBCD (or the Ultimate Boot CD) is a bootable CD containing a large collection of tools - CPU stress tests, memory tests, disk cloning ................. - a number of which can create/format large FAT32 partitions. Just download the .ISO image and burn a CD - you will need a computer that you can boot it on to format the disk, though.
Many disk cloning packages should also be able to do it - or enlarge a 32GB partition to fill the disk

I believe 10.2.2.B doesn't support USB drives, due to the fact that this firmware is aimed at the Plusnet supplied ADSL modems (not fibre) and these ship without USB ports.

The 10.2.2.B doesn't support the USB port but it is for ADSL as has been stated, not Fibre. There is only one currently available firmware for Fibre 8.C.M.0 What firmware do you have on yours Podman?

Currnetly on 8.C.M.0
I have re-formated my music drives to fat32 only to discover that because it's so old my newer hardware doesn't like it.
If I buy a network drive which is formatted on ntfs and connects via Ethernet I trust the routers short comings regarding ntfs will be a thing of the past as the network drive will deal with all the info itself.
