Query about Plusnets new Fibre (38mb) Unlimited only service

I'm just recently out of my 18 month Unlimited Fibre package (upto 76mb) only package.  I was just looking at the product change for you new Unlimited Fibre package (the upto 38mb), but it doesn't seem to be there.

Re: Query about Plusnets new Fibre (38mb) Unlimited only service

Just be careful as being downgrade to 'up to 38Mbps' from 'up to 76Mbps' will result in a new 18 months contract! I am not 100% certain if this is true or not, Best to ask first.

Re: Query about Plusnets new Fibre (38mb) Unlimited only service

Ofcom new ruling is only for broadband migration from one isp to other isp with a minimum of 1 month contract (only for those who already out of contract)
please note: Not for new fibre broadband for the first time as it still apply 12/18 months contract depend on your isp)

Re: Query about Plusnets new Fibre (38mb) Unlimited only service

I don't think so
The only reference I could find limited contracts to 2 years http://www.theguardian.com/money/2011/may/26/ofcom-bans-three-year-contracts
However it says

They must also make 12-month contracts available under the new regulations which bring the UK in line with EU telecoms law.

But I have no idea how accurate all that is

We just did the 38 from 76 with a 2 year contract, well worth looking at as we saved £240 over 2 years!

Re: Query about Plusnets new Fibre (38mb) Unlimited only service

Surely if I already have had an engineer install, and all the equipment, I don't need a new contract.  It would just handy to have that option if I need to save a bit of money (albeit £2.50).
@Chris Pettitt, thanks for that.  I would nice to have an option if I need to save a bit of money.

Re: Query about Plusnets new Fibre (38mb) Unlimited only service

If u want to save more than £2.50 a month then it have to be signing up new contract 18/24 months depend what offer that Plusnet willing to offer u. If u don't want the offer, but downgrade to 38Mbps from 76Mbps will result in a new contract anyway. I have asked Plusnet feedback about 1 month contract here: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,128911.0.html
