Profile tweak please.

After following the advice of several helpful people on the forums (Especially Anotherone!), I have managed to achieve much better sync rates with my broadband connection.
I am currently synced at 443 / 17134 kbps which I couldn't be happier with for 16mbps broadband.
However - All speed tests are showing I am still capped at around 10.5mbps.
Previously when I managed a small sync increase, Mattz0r did something to match the Plustnet profile with the BT profile, which gave me a bit of a speed boost. I have a feeling this needs doing again?
While you're there can I be cheeky and ask for my upload sync to be uncapped? Bit of a gamer, and the upwards journey is half of the roundtrip afterall, so the faster the better.
Many thanks in advance Smiley

Re: Profile tweak please.

It's been stuck at 11.4 for the last few days, even though I was synced at close to 17mbps

Re: Profile tweak please.

You could also ask for your upload to be uncapped.

Re: Profile tweak please.

Hi there,
Your speed profile is now matching up and you should see a difference in the next 10-15 minutes. I've also placed an order to uncap your upload speed, this will complete on Monday for you.

Re: Profile tweak please.

Thanks Chris, I can see the speed updated to 15.3mbps on the members page.
A question if I may - Why is this speed matching business a manual task? How come PN don't automatically allow someones connection to go at full speed?

Re: Profile tweak please.

It does do it automatically, but there is lag between when it changes and when we get the message from BT that it has changed.

Re: Profile tweak please.

Thanks Kelly.
Another question...
In my experience (with other ISPs in the past), I know if I sync around 17.1mbps I know there is some overhead and I'd do well to squeeze close to 16mbps out of the connection - in this respect the current speed of 15.3 listed in the members section looks low, but close accurate.
But it feels to me like it's being treated as if I'm synced at 15.3, and then getting a lower actual download speed based on that. Testing with speedtest.net and BTW both report 14mbps download speed (which I would be happy with if I was synced at 15.3 - but not so great when I am synced at 17.1 - there most certainly isn't over 3mbps of overhead.)
So, can you explain to me what is going on here please?
Thanks.

Re: Profile tweak please.

If you sync at 17.1 your IP Profile will be 15.1. That is the absolute maximum speed you can get if you drive the line at 100% efficiency which is never achieved in practice. Around 95% is good.
