Profile stuck at 7000

I had interleaving tuned off a while ago, and got a rock steady 8128Kbs connection. After the usual wait my profile went up to 7150.
Then I played around with my modem a week ago. It had to reboot several times and my profile went down to 7000.
I still get the full 8128 every time I reboot it (I've done that about once a day since last week) but my profile hasn's gone back up yet.
Like I said, it's been a week, now. Should I just wait longer for it to go back up?

Re: Profile stuck at 7000

Rick,
Are you referring to the PlusNet or BT profiling?
If you're referring to BT, you're already on 7150Kbps.  If you're referring to PlusNet, it's now showing as 8000Kbps.

Re: Profile stuck at 7000

Hmm...
I checked it shortly before I posted - I've been checking every day when I get home. I could have sworn it still said 7000  Roll_eyes  Embarrassed
Thanks very much for the response - panic over.
Cheers,
Rick.

Re: Profile stuck at 7000

I'm guessing if you asked James a particular question he'd respond "Moi?" Wink
(He did that to me after by stable rate dropped from 8000)

Re: Profile stuck at 7000

As I understand it, if you reboot more than a few times in quick succession the BT exchange may adjust your profile downwards in a ttempt to stabilise the connection (it assumes that there is a fault on the line).  It'll take at least three days of continuous uninterrupted connection before your IP Profile is restored to its original value.

Re: Profile stuck at 7000

He's not talking about his IP Profile which was already back up to the maximum 7150 value. He's talking about the speed shown on https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=stable_rate which sometimes needs a manual poke by someone at Plusnet.
LordFox checked - it was 7000

James said it is showing 8000.
No prizes for guessing what I think goes in the gap!

Jelv - yep, you hit it on the head!
I gave up trying to get bt speedtest to let me use it. I didn't realise that there could be some 'lag' on the stable rate page.
