Can PlusNet do something about the way our account name is displayed in reverse DNS? As in when online I show up as “accountname.plus.com”.

Yup.
You can raise a ticket to get it changed.
Job done.

Cheers I will do that, What are the parameters of what it can be changed to? Or will it be selected at random?
Out of interest why is our user name used as standard, it is after all a big hint to our email addresses?

I don't know specifically other than it's always been done that way.
We can easily change it to your IP Address.
