Portal - should it be centered on the screen?

Over a year ago I raised PUGIT 254 asking for the portal (http://portal.plus.net) to be centered as it looked silly down the left hand side of the screen especially when using higher resolutions. Discussion of this item can be found on the PUG forums here.
Since then I suspect a lot of people have replaced their monitors with probably larger flat screens and more and more people will have wide screen monitors where a portal designed for 800X600 down the left hand side must look totally silly.
As voting on PUGIT requires either registration or setting up your preferences I thought I ask on here to see what people thought.

Yes,
I agree with you.  This forum benfits from being central and I shall be buying a 22" wiscreen monitor later this year which I presume will accentuate its leftness!

Not to boast but I have a 24in Dell and it IS centred, I really appreciate this new template, it makes the forum readable.

Are you looking at the portal? ( http://portal.plus.net )

Ooops!  You are absolutely right.
It takes up about half the screen on the left.
So many websites are badly designed and do not expand to fit the space available.
The Plusnet site font is just readable on my screen but not a pleasure to use which is why I tend to avoid it.

Interesting. In just over two hours this poll has attracted more votes than the PUGIT item has attracted in over a year! (also some of the votes on PUGIT have only appeared since I started the poll on here).

My bad. Sad
I've added a link to the first post as I bet you won't be the only one to get confused! Roll_eyes

Who has time to go to more than one forum per organisation?
Perhaps PUGIT should be hosted as a sub forum?

Well for one thing PUGIT is a datbase application not a Forum Grin  We are discussing ways to make things more visible on Community and allow voting etc.  Watch this space

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.
