Poor Upload Speed

Hello plusnet & co.
I've recently moved address and before I moved in my old place I was pulling roughly 6mb down and 0.20mb or so up which I thought was acceptable as I was still on really old cable.
Now I've moved to my new address which has a lot better speeds, I can pull 14mb down, I thought to myself GREAT! However, upload speed is still an issue. 0.30mb.
I'm a gamer who likes to make videos and I used to suffice on my old speed of 0.20 but with 14mb down and not even 1mb up, I find it hard to believe.
Thanks
John

Re: Poor Upload Speed

Hi John,
Welcome to the forums.
Sounds like your new service is on 446 upstream.  Can you pease post your modem stats here.  If this assumption proves to be correct, then if your line will support it, you could ask PN to 'uncap' the US bandwidth.

Superusers are not staff, but they do have a direct line of communication into the business in order to raise issues, concerns and feedback from the community.

Re: Poor Upload Speed

Hi there,
Just placed the order to uncap it for you (it was indeed capped at 448) - that'll complete tomorrow, hope it improves things for you.

Re: Poor Upload Speed

Brilliant, last address must have been the same too then?
Thanks a lot Matt!

Re: Poor Upload Speed

In the Help & Support pages, on "Your Broadband speed - the Basics" it says
Quote
1. What speeds should I be getting?
Your broadband will always try to connect at the highest possible speed available on your telephone line

Other pages say much the same thing.
So why are Plusnet still capping upload speeds?
Judging by the number of uncapping request on this forum I suspect that fixing this could help reduce the ticket backlog.

What excellent timing for my little rant  Grin
That's great news but to be honest, it's been a long time coming.

Re: Poor Upload Speed

some one is capping it since i moved to Plus Net from Talk Talk my Uploads speeds have dropped dramatically now i struggle to get past the .30mps. When gaming to my knowledge up is as important as down speed.

Re: Poor Upload Speed

Just placed the order for you (thanks for the heads up Jelv) - it'll complete tomorrow, should leave you with an upload of around 1Mb.
