Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

My BT profile has been  7150 since Saturday but my sync speed remains at around 2000 (dependant on time of day).
I note my Plusnet profile is only 2500 so presume this is the cause - I understood the Plusnet profile tracks the BT profile twice daily?
Could someone have a look at this please.
Ticket 41133163 raised on Saturday (no response!) also refers

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

IP profile has no effect on sync speed - do you mean speed test result.
If you do then the Plusnet profile is indeed the problem

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Sorry Jim  I meant to say connection speed (too many speed variants in the DLM system!)
Here is latest BT speed test:
Download speed achieved during the test was - 2109 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2000-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8257 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 444 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 19.68:27.74:52.59 (SBE:NBE:PBE)

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Hi Jim got that wrong again (Connection speed is 8250)  - can we agree on download speed?

Whatever you want to call it, your Connection Rate or Sync speed is 8257kbps. The IP Profile that goes with that is 7150kbps, and the BT Performance Tester result correctly shows that value.
You mentioned the Current line speed shown in the Member Centre is 2500kbps; it should be 7150kbps. This might mean the value is stuck and needs a manual update, or there could be an inconsistency in the BT systems. Either way Plusnet need to check it out and fix the problem.

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Hi there,
I'm afraid the BT profile is showing at 2500 on one of their reporting tools, which is I suspect why the agent replied as he did. As the speed test is reporting differently though I suspect there's a mismatch there. I'll do some tests shortly and post back.

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Hmm, no mismatch there. Have you done a speed test since the 23rd at all? That seems to be when the profile dropped.

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Hi Matt,
I did have a rogue connection on the 23rd but reconnected and recovered as soon as I noticed it. BT intitally dropped to 2500 but recovered 24hours later and since then their profile has been 7150. The speedtest on my first post (28th) is typical.  I am at work so can't do another at the moment. There is also a similar speed test in my ticket.(on the 24th).

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Hi again Matt,
Further to my last I daren't do a speedtest during the peak period in the evening because my speed drops below 2000 (BT's acceptable speed range is 2000 to 7150) so it shows up an error. Not sure why Daniel saw my router as off-line as it is on 24/7.
Cheers

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Hi Mike,
Still seeing the same issue on another test, so I've reset the SNR on the line - this should kick everything back into line again for you. Best bet would be for you to resync the router once a day around lunchtime, by actually disconnecting the ADSL from the router interface and then powering it off, then back on again (using the interface is important, if you don't the exchange may record the disconnection as a fault).
It should take effect within the next hour or so.

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

Thanks Matt will let you know how it goes - may not be able to progress the midday disconnects until Friday but can then do them daily until Monday Noon.
Will try and setup remote access on my TP-Link Router in which case will be able to do it from work.

This has been the same all weekend until today?Huh
I am about to change routers from the TP-Link back to the TG585 v7 to see if that makes any difference.

Re: Plusnet profile vs BT Profile

No I'm not - did I final check of status both ends and Plusnet  Profile finally left 2500 went to 7150 then 12000 (one extreme to the other!!)
I will leave things as they are till everything settles. But I am now seeing a more realistic download speed.
Cheers
