Re: Plusnet not getting back to me

From the data supplied, I am amazed you had a stable connection at 3dB D/D SNR -

i think that's the key, in the past, the line has somehow managed to keep low error counts and thus the DLM reduced the target SNR, enabling a higher ds speed. The line  is now seen as worse, maybe due to a number of disconnects, and so the target is back to 6db .

Problem is the speed is still above the MGALS  and so getting Openreach to investigate is going to be difficult.

I guess the only option is to leave everything stable and hope the DLM reducesctye target again, but it could take some time...

Re: Plusnet not getting back to me

@jab1 22.37 down 9.04 up.

And I didn't mention that neighbours the same distance from the cabinet as me (but down a branched off copper line) are still synced at 40

@MisterW I think you're probably right.  But if Plusnet don't get back to me with any more info gleaned from the Hub 2 then that will be coming back out and I will revert to my Billion router.

K suspect you will need to call and prod them...

Re: Plusnet not getting back to me

Interesting that their test is just that tiny bit above the hand-back threshold. I personally would be pushing PN for a proper investigation, but would probably have a long fight - I get the feeling BT/OR don't want to know about ADSL/FTTC faults any more. I had quite a fight to get them to investigate a fault a couple of months before I switched to FTTP - my ISP had to go through the charade of sending me a loan router, even though I knew the fault was nothing to do with my equipment, merely a OR infrastructure fault - dodgy cable connection at the top of the DP pole.

Re: Plusnet not getting back to me

Chaps any ideas why I may be getting webpages failing to load and emails failing to send at the moment?  A slow service is one thing but one that doesn't work is another

@jab1 how do I use the hand back threshold when talking to Plusnet?

Re: Plusnet not getting back to me

@Junkman I think that is a totally separate question, but may just be related - something, somewhere on your connection is getting very poorly/tired, and is now nearly ready to give up.

To cover you additional question - your H/B threshold is only 1Mb/s below that reported in your BTw figures - I would call that close enough to a 'fail' condition.

Re: Plusnet not getting back to me

Gents just a quick update and it's not good. Still synced at close to 34 but my stable & quiet connection is now being progressively banded - 29999 on 15th June then down to 27399 last night. Can't speedtest as away, but of course BT have now reduced the handback threshold to 21. How can they do that?

Hi @Junkman I can see you called in yesterday evening and an Advisor has made some amendments to your line. This should take up to 24 hours to resolve.

Re: Plusnet not getting back to me

@ClaudiaG23 yes I did and yes he did - a DLM reset that took place almost immediately and restored my sync speed to where it was before the DLM bot adjusted it twice recently.  But still not back to where I was for over 2 years prior to 13th April. I fully expect the bot to reduce it again in the near future for no apparent reason.

Very disappointing that I still have 2 open tickets from mid-May on this issue and that your system doesn't follow them up anymore.

I think the need for this DLM reset is just further evidence that something is continuing to go awry with my copper connection but I guess I will have to have no broadband service whatsoever before you can get Openreach to look at copper cables.

Cheers, Stuart
