Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

@Gandalf Has this change resolved the issue btw or is it too soon to tell?

Currently no problems, but I need a several days before I can tell. I'll post with any updates.

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

Service solid now for over 7 days, so looks like the change from static to dynamic ip seems to have resolved the issue. How do we proceed now?

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

Thanks for the update @avant-guvnor

I've triggered a static IP to be automatically applied back on your account by re-enabling the broadband firewall you had on.

Can you reboot your router and retest? Let me know how it goes.

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

If this is the historical TG582n and Win 8/8.1/10 IP address spoofing issue then I doubt a static / public IP address will make any difference.

With this problem I have seen two browser windows pointing at the same website work and not work concurrently.

Flushing the device’s DNS cache is a good test to see if this is the problem “in play”.

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

@Townman When the issue occurs ALL devices on my lan (5 Win10 Pro PCs, 3 Android mobile devices and the router itself) exhibit the issue.

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

When you get the issue, have you inspected the router’s spoofed address list?

That needs access via telnet - I will see if I can find the instructions...

If you mean dns server debug spoof list, no, not when the issue has occurs.

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

Really odd. To rule out an issue with the Technicolor's, I've sent you a different type of router to use instead.

Can you let us know how it goes once you've got it?

@MisterW When it happens again, if you could try an nslookup...

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

Along side that, what IP address is returned if you PING bbc.co.uk?

Re: Plusnet gateway and DNS problems

Since @avant-guvnor has already said that the tg582 is configured to use Google dns. Then from the nslookup above, one can only conclude that the tg582 is failing to forward dns requests. This is not an unknown problem with the tg582
