Plusnet extra fibre --> plusnet fibre unlimited

Hi
I'm currently on the legacy plusnet extra fibre. I have noticed that the new equivalent of fibre unlimited is £1.50 cheaper a month and you get more.
Can someone from PN confirm? Also if I change to this product via my account will I start a new 18 month contract?
Thanks
Chris.

Hi Chris,
Yes, you'd start an 18 month contract if you were to move onto either our fibre Essentials or Unlimited product. You can change this at http://portal.plus.net

Re: Plusnet extra fibre --> plusnet fibre unlimited

My fibre D/L speed has steadily decreased from 45 Mbps to 38 Mbps since I changed to Fibre unlimited in early October. I guess this is because of the increased uptake of the new product on my exchange. I'm wondering if I changed to Essentials would I still get the same speed or would I get slightly less than 50% of 40 Mbps?

Probably no real change to download but your upload would drop as Essentials is a 40/10 product - and you would start a new 18 month contract I believe

Thanks Jim. The reduced upload speed would be no problem as I'm not into all this social network stuff because I'm probably older than you!! Roll_eyes

Chris
If I changed to fibre unlimited would I get the increased speeds or does my line only support 40/10?

You should be able to see what speed your line is capable of in the availability checker.

I take it that doesn't meet with your current expectation?
I can see that you have a higher profile than that at present so I'd guess that's the case, I can't see any reason why the current downstream you're getting at present would change even if the upstream did.

No just surprised it says 27MB when I'm quite happily getting 37MB currently. I take it I'm not likely to see an increase in download speed if I changed to 80/20?

I've placed a modify order to move you yto 80/20, this will complete tomorrow for you. Let's see if it makes a difference.

Not sure if it went through Chris but speed still a steady 35MB wireless. Sync around 37MB.

Re: Plusnet extra fibre --> plusnet fibre unlimited

It has been moved to the 80/20, it seems that there has been no improvement. I'd leave your line as it is for now and see if it changes. It may just be that you're at your max sync rate which is very close to the 40Mb/s mark.
