Plusnet Unlimited Fibre but seem to be on 40/10 speed!

Got FTTC on the 29 April when the BT Openreach engineer said I should be in the mid 40's for downloads but all the speed tests pointed to 36/37.
I waited to see if this would go up over time but it stay the same so I decided to modify the HG612 and installed the stats programs from kitz.co.uk.
It seems I am capped at the 40/10 instead of being on 80/20.
Am I capped and should I be able to get more?
Thanks
Clive

Hi Clive,
It looks as though you've been provisioned on the 40/10 product, this is because your line estimate is 32Mb down and 6Mb up. I've placed an order for 80/20 to see if we can get a little more out of the line for you. I'd expect this change to take effect overnight.

Thanks Chris,
Line estimate maybe 32/6 but I am getting 37/7 at present so just hoping it will improve further tomorrow.
Do I need to reset the HG612 or my Billion 7800N tomorrow?

No problem, Clive.
No, nothing at all, it should all changeover automatically.

Re: Plusnet Unlimited Fibre but seem to be on 40/10 speed!

A note of thanks to you Chris Pettitt for sorting out the change to 80/20, as you stated my line stats changed at 00:39 and the downstream SNRM fell from 9.2 to 5.6!
Last night the BT Performance test at 10pm was
Download speed achieved during the test was - 34.29 Mbps
IP Profile for your line is - 38.69 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 7.32Mbps
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 10 Mbps
and at 8am this morning
Download speed achieved during the test was - 42.29 Mbps
IP Profile for your line is - 44.67 Mbps
Upload speed achieved during the test was - 7.48Mbps
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 20 Mbps
Not bad for an Estimated line speed of 32Mb
So if anyone is on the 80/20 product and the BT Performance Test only shows an Upstream IP Profile of 10 Mbps, then ask to be put on 80/20, I was put on 40/10 because BT estimated my speed to max at 32 Mbps and as can been seen above I now get 42 Mbps!

No problem, Clive - I'm glad it's gone through you're seeing positive results Smiley

Re: Plusnet Unlimited Fibre but seem to be on 40/10 speed!

Clive,
You seem to be one of the lucky ones.  I hope that you are not on a presently under populated cabinet, which as more subscribers move to FTTC causes your better than estimated speed to trend downwards to the estimate.
The stories of getting better than estimated on low population cabinets to end up on less than estimate are legion due to the poor state of BTOR d-side infrastructure in some locations.
Hope you will remain lucky!
Kevin

Re: Plusnet Unlimited Fibre but seem to be on 40/10 speed!

Kevin,
Cabinet went live around around mid April and I was told by the OR engineer I was the 4th connection so yes I expect that as the cabinet fills up I will see the speed reduce but the main point I am making is that I (and it seems a few others) asked for an 80/20 line and was supplied a 40/10 because I was only expected to get 32 Mbps, so I have at present gained overnight 8 Mbps by just getting the correct line speed. If in the future I see it go to nearer 32 Mbps then I will move over to the 40/20 product and save a fiver a month or hopefully by then BT will have turned on Vectoring  Grin

Re: Plusnet Unlimited Fibre but seem to be on 40/10 speed!

Hopefully this will not happen any more as Plusnet have said they are now provisioning everyone on 80/20, regardless of the product ordered. The new unlimited 40/20 product is the 80/20 service with a 40Mbps cap applied by Plusnet.
