Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

I am wondering whether to try this router and sign up for 12 months into the bargain but one thing I would like to do first is have a read of the manual to see whether it is as configurable as my Netgear.
Is there any place I can download the manual and is the Plusnet firmware significantly different to the standard

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

There is a Manual for the TG582n over at http://www.telecom.co.nz/binarys/telecom-wireless-full-technical.pdf
My first impressions of the TG582n are very positive, my only gripe is having to telnet into it to perform what I call very basic tasks!  Roll_eyes
Did I mention that I have gained just short of 1Mbps downstream sync!  Cheesy

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

I've got the TG582n and I have to say I'm very impressed with it in comparison to my Netgear DG834GT. I would honestly say it's worth getting.

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

Any ideas how it performs on a longish line 50dB attenuation

A quick glance through the manual and I can't see how to do this
Do not broadcast SSID
Set up a wireless access list

Broadcast SSID "Broadcast Network Name:" can be turned off in the GUI wireless configuration page.
A wireless access list can be created via registration by changing the "Allow New Devices:" option on the same page.

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

Yes - and I won't even ask about a CLI command manual  Lips_are_sealed although with  any luck the 585 commands (or most of them) will work
Just to add - this is what the 585 manual says so why couldn't this one say something similar

 Encryption
 Access Control
 Disabling SSID Broadcast
As you will find out in the following sections, not all of these security measures are hard to crack. But all
together it may discourage some hackers to break into you network.

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

If you go to http://techietools.co.uk/router/Technicolor/TG582n you can have a look at what options are available in the GUI.
BTW have you seen my post over on the other TG582n thread?

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

That is useful and it gives a lot more information than my Netgear DG834G unless I telnet in
To change the DNS servers do you need to telnet in or can you do it from the GUI
Edit - just read your other post - looks like it is a telnet option only

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

I use one of these for the IPV6 trial and it's a pretty nice router (better than my Cisco 877W in some respects) with faster connection speeds too.  The interface is a bit buggy, if you try to change two things at once for instance it'll only change 1, it also messes up wi-fi unless you set a manual channel (note, I'm using beta firmware so it may not occur in the normal firmware).  I'm not on a long line (33.5db) but it's very stable, I have an issue with my line that the TN ignores but which crashes my Cisco (SNR drops I think).  IPV6 test forum will have more info on the router, oh, it also does IPV6 (with the test firmware at least  Crazy)
DNS servers, from CLI only as far as I can tell.

Re: Plusnet TG582n Manual - not a quick setup leaflet

Just had a quick glance through that board - it does seem quite promising.
