Plusnet SafeGuard - Gaming - Ping

Hi all,

We do a lot of online gaming Ps3/Ps4 in our household.

I'm a new customer - 'Copper BB'.

With Plusnet SafeGuard - is it likely that it affects pings in some way - putting us at a competitive disadvantage?

Q1: What affect does 'SafeGuard' have on download speed, upload speed - latency & ping?

Q2: Will turning it off make a difference?

Re: Plusnet SafeGuard - Gaming - Ping

It will have negligible impact on latency. Only difference is that your DNS hits a different set of caching servers, and they're practically side by side.

Fibre would improve all of your desired features.

You could always turn Safeguard off for a while to see if it makes a noticeable difference.

Re: Plusnet SafeGuard - Gaming - Ping

Appreciate the advice on this.

It seems quite clear the only way to be sure is to try and see. I'll be waiting till our initial DLM run has finished - then will try with it off and on at different times - then report back.

Let us know how it goes.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.
